Photo-to-laser tools for Etsy sellers

Make personalised engravings, gifts, and memorial pieces from a single customer photo — no design background required.

The workflow problem

Etsy makers ship one-off personalised products. Each customer sends their own photo with their own quality issues — blurry, badly cropped, weirdly lit, low resolution. Doing that prep by hand kills margins. AI does it in seconds.

One order, from inbox to engraving

A buyer sends a phone snapshot of their grandmother for a slate coaster. Drop it into Photo Studio. Start with Levels rather than AI: pull the black point up until the shadows are genuinely dark and the white point down until the highlights are clean, because engraving exaggerates whatever contrast the file already has. If the print is damaged, type what you want fixed into the prompt box or press the Repair chip, then generate with PHOTON v1.1. WAVELENGTH v1.2, on paid plans, is the one to switch to when PHOTON keeps missing the edit. One ordering rule matters: a PHOTON edit can bring back a background you already removed, so run Remove Background last. Then press Work From Here to bake the result, crop to your blank's proportions under Transform, and export the PNG for your machine software.

What you actually pay for

The free plan includes monthly credits, every studio and PHOTON v1.1, with no card to start. Credits only leave your balance on AI operations and on a Crystal Studio point-cloud export. Everything you do by hand is free, and that covers Adjust, Levels, Transform, crop and export. Unused monthly credits roll over, and credits from packs never expire, so a slow month is not a wasted month. The file converters and the 3D and point-cloud viewers under Resources need no account at all, so you can open a customer's STL before you decide whether the order is worth taking. Outputs are yours to sell; the Terms of Service carries the exact wording. For a shop selling one-off personalised pieces, that combination means the cost per order is a known number of credits rather than a subscription you have to keep feeding.

Set expectations before you take the order

AI restoration does not recover detail. It produces a plausible reconstruction of what was probably there, and on a memorial or a portrait of someone's late relative that difference matters. Show the buyer the restored image and get a yes before you burn anything, and keep the original scan so you can compare. The chips make this easy to forget. Smile will change someone's face. Colorize will invent colours nobody can verify. Both are fine for a fun gift and a poor idea on a memorial piece. The studios also need a desktop-sized screen, at least 768 pixels wide, so you cannot process an order from your phone between school runs. And 3D mesh generation is marked Beta: it works best on simple shapes and the quality varies. For flat and relief work, which is most Etsy work, you are on much steadier ground.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell what I make with it?
Yes. Files you produce on LaserTools are yours to use commercially, which is the point of the tool. The Terms of Service page carries the precise licence wording and is worth a read before you build a product line on it. Uploaded images are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are never used for training.
Do I still need a Photoshop subscription?
For engraving prep, usually not. Photo Studio covers brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness, levels, crop, rotate and flip, plus background removal and prompt-based editing. What it does not have is layers and masks, so if your listing photography needs multi-image composites, precise typography or print colour work, keep a general image editor for that side of the business.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet?
The studios need a screen at least 768 pixels wide, so a phone is blocked and a small tablet will be too. A laptop, desktop or large tablet in landscape is fine, in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. The public pages, including the free viewers and converters, open on anything.
